: Opis.: Design First Established in 2007 with the mission to create an Australian design brand we aim to bring together and represent the talent of Australian designers in a collection that is a playful balance of fun and function. Founded and directed by designers, we have a design first approach that is reflected in our culture and products. Every design is carefully considered, developed and curated by us to ensure it meets our requirements and represents what we consider to be good design. We believe that our products must be innovative but not forced. They must be useful but also be enjoyable. They can have character and stories but require modesty. They must be sensitive to time and to the environment. They must be accessible, appear simple, approachable and not be over designed. They must consider all details, be well made and have value. They must complement each other but be individual. DesignByThem Nick and Sarah met whilst studying Industrial Design at university (UTS) and had always wanted to work together. They realised that many Australian designers at the time were looking for overseas companies to represent them and wanted to offer an Australian brand alternative. Both strongly believe in education and sustainability, having lectured and taught at UTS and other universities in New South Wales.
