Crassula ovata (Crassula ovata) is a bushy succulent. It is characterized by strongly branched, thick shoots, on which fleshy, shiny leaves grow. Looks great at home in pots, but also on the terraces, outside.

Crassula is an extremely diverse group of plants. The variety of shapes and textures of their crassula leaves is impressive. This plant has over 200 species and belongs to the so-called succulent plants, like cacti or aloe. Crassula accumulates water in the stem and in thick leaves. In a natural climate, it usually reaches very large sizes, even up to 4 meters, in pot cultivation up to a meter high. The advantage of the crassula is the fact that even in a very dry and hot room it feels great. It comes from Africa.

First of all, the tree of happiness does not require, like cacti and other succulents, a large amount of water. Crassula watered too abundantly, it will certainly die. Water the crassula depending on the temperature in the house. If the temperature exceeds 20 degrees Celsius, we water it once every two weeks, when the land is already dry. When the temperature is lower, we water it less often. Let's not forget to remove excess water from the base each time, as this will protect the plant from root rot.

Let us remember! It is better to forget about watering the crassula than to do it too often.
It is not recommended to place the Crassula near the radiators, it may cause weaker growth and loss of leaves and loss of their color. It is different when we put the crassula in a sunny place. Access to light will mobilize the plant to grow. However, it is recommended to put the crassula on the windowsill facing east or west, the southern sunlight can damage the plant.

Even if you forget to water the crassula, he is still well, because he draws water from his fleshy, thick leaves.

For a plant to be healthy, it's not just the access to light that matters. Once a month, it is recommended to supplement the crassula with a nutrient, preferably liquid, such as for cacti or other succulents.

Remember! Fertilizer fertilize from early spring to late autumn. The best substrate for crassula will be sand with gravel and peat or ordinary potting soil with an admixture of sand and clay.
Crassula grows quite slowly, so we should not worry when for a year its shoots grow only a few centimeters.

Warning! Crassula needs pruning. We cut it depending on the height of the tree we want to achieve. We form a tree thanks to pruning, but not only. Pruning crassula also affects the density of the leaves. Over time, more and more of them grow, and the crassula becomes dense and thus more impressive.
Crassula bloom, however, this does not happen immediately and regularly. Small white flowers above the shoots usually appear in older specimens of the happiness tree. However, it is difficult to predict when this will happen. It may happen that the crassula will not bloom at all. A lot depends on the proper care of the plant.
