: Opis.: Death of Cleopatra, the last queen of Egypt. The death of Cleopatra, the last ruler of the Ptolemaic Kingdom, took place on August 10 or 12, 30 BC, in Alexandria. At the time 39 years old, Cleopatra, according to popular belief, committed suicide by allowing herself to be bitten by a snake. According to historians, Cleopatra committed suicide using some toxic ointment. Cleopatra VII although she was Queen of Egypt, was not Egyptian but of Greek origin. Her family roots can be traced back to Ptolemy I Soter, general of Alexander the Great, who became governor of Egypt after the Macedonian leader's death and was the founder of the Ptolemaic Dynasty, to which Cleopatra belonged. Cleopatra was the most powerful woman of the 1st century BC and her entire history was linked to her sexuality, that is, in the mentality of the time Cleopatra only conquered everything using her seduction and not due to her enormous intelligence. Cleopatra was a cultured woman, had a refined education, spoke several languages, and frequented the library of Alexandria. Cleopatra's death has been portrayed in numerous works of art throughout history. Her death evoked themes of eroticism and sexuality in works that include paintings, sculptures, plays, films universally involving the bite of a snake. With her death the 300-year Ptolemaic government ended and Egypt became a Roman province. A bit of the history of the most famous queen of all antiquity that had the two greatest Romans of her time: Julius Caesar and Marcos Antonio. Her grave was never found.
